India Home Fashions Product Catalog

India Home Fashions, a home accessory company based in Cleveland Heights, was looking to revamp their existing product catalog. Impel Creative saw this as a great opportunity, and collaborated with the BeeHive for creative and technical assistance. Also, of course, to ensure we could turn around a work-load this size in a timely and efficient fashion to meet the expected deadline. Together we designed the 80 page catalog which includes full-color photography, organization of new and existing products, and categorizing them by collection names and also items. All of their products and information was arranged to be presented in an attractive and clear manner to appeal to their wide-base of customers (including easy to use order forms!). All in all, it was about an 8 week project, with a happy client and great printed piece in the end. What a great opportunity to be involved in a project like this! Already looking forward to 2011!

Ohio Newsletter Rocks, Has Award to Prove It
(Dec 14, 2009)

Cleveland is home to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and now Dominion East Ohio’s Ohio Pipeline  publication can claim rock-star status after receiving a Cleveland Rocks Award from the Greater Cleveland Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.

The quarterly employee newsletter received a silver award in the internal communications category. The awards competition honors the best in marketing and public relations in Northeast Ohio. Nearly 75 of 134 entries were recognized at the awards luncheon.

“We’re especially proud of this award and our internal communications team,” said Tracy Oliver, director-Ohio Media Relations. “Dominion was one of only a few companies to win an award, with most of the winning entries being produced by advertising agencies or public relations firms.”

The winning pieces of the Cleveland Design Competition were photographed and compiled into a 44-page catalog to showcase the work. I designed the book and carried through the visual theme that was used on the poster to annouce the competition and call for entries (scroll down for earlier post). Here is a sample of a few spreads. The PDF in its entirety, along with photos from the event, can be viewed and downloaded here. Congratuations to all the winners!

Dominion East Ohio Newsletter

Dominon East Ohio wanted to create a newsletter for their employees about their employees, which turned out to be a great ongoing project. This is one of those rare opportunities where I was given a project with a blank slate. Everything from the design, look + feel, format, and including the name of the publication (and masthead/name plate design) was open to creativity. Luckily, I have a wonderful client who is open to new ideas and great to work with, which is the other half of this fantastic equation. This publication prints quarterly, and shown here are just a few issues that we’ve done in the past two years. (photography: Tim Safranek Photographics)

COSE Home Based Business Research

Last fall, COSE (Council for Smaller Enterprises) conducted a study of Home Based Businesses and their owners. This piece is an 12-page report that discusses their findings as well as the statistics of the Home Bases Business. Being one myself, I thought this was a particularly interesting project. I’m very pleased with how it came out, and recently found out that it’s being entered into a publications contest. I’ll let you know how it turns out.
